The very first Velosolutions Skills Bike Park In the Netherlands we were allowed to dock in Hierden!
Skills Bikeparks are safe environments where children, teenagers and adults can learn essential cycling skills in a fun and accessible way. A place with an unpaved surface within which there are various elements that offer a challenge.
The Skills Bikepark in Hierden 9 skills elements that are accessible for every level. The municipality of Harderwijk organizes Het Stadsidee every year for the residents of all villages. This is an award ceremony with which they can win a budget to realize their idea! Four children from the municipality wanted a PumpTrack in their own village. They had made a design themselves, went door to door and eventually won the prize! Unfortunately, it turned out to be financially unfeasible to build an asphalt PumpTrack here. In addition, the terrain has a 'building' destination, which means that housing may be built in a few years, making a permanent PumpTrack unsustainable. Via Lappset the municipality came into contact with our products and this turned out to be the solution! With the help of the elements, the children were allowed to design the Skills Park themselves, with the hope that it can remain there for a long time. And if it does have to disappear, the elements can be moved to another location. At this moment, the Skills Park meets the WAS certification, if the elements are moved, a re-inspection will have to take place. In short: an ideal (possibly temporary) opportunity to introduce children to cycling and learning skills.
