Velosolutions is not sitting still. We continue to develop to give people all over the world a sports experience and to experience the joy of movement. In recent years, various Velosolutions offices from all over the world have made further developments for the cycling world. In the meantime, these products are also increasingly starting to land in the Netherlands, and are bundled under the name 'Velofeatures'. This blog gives you an overview of the various Velofeatures that Velosolutions offers. We would like to put the first Skills Bikepark in the Netherlands, in the town of Hierden, in the spotlight!
Velomaster
Velomaster parks are educational and fun bike parks where children and adults can learn to overcome obstacles that mimic an urban environment: stairs, curbs, rails and various riding surfaces. The city environment is full of these obstacles, but there is no safe and designated place to learn how to overcome those obstacles. Velomaster is the solution to develop driving skills and learn more about what you may encounter in everyday traffic.
Make a PumpTrack extra challenging? Or offer a specific target group more possibilities? For this we have PumpTrack Features, extra elements that can often be added to a PumpTrack afterwards. Think of different types of Wall rides or skate elements. Recently we have been able to add these to PumpTracks in Veendam, Goes, Tilburg, Ridderkerk, Nijmegen & Beuningen.
Skills Bike Park
Skills Bike Parks are safe environments where children, teenagers, and adults can learn essential cycling skills in a fun and accessible way. They feature an unpaved surface with various challenging elements. Skills Bike Parks can be built as a unique bike park in an urban environment, for example, or as a complement to existing bike parks and MTB trails. Why a Skills Bike Park? First and foremost, they're fun. But that's not all. For cycling countries like the Netherlands and Belgium, this offers the opportunity to create more and more unique locations that inspire people to get on their bikes. A Skills Bike Park offers a fun and accessible way to spend time with family and friends while simultaneously improving your cycling skills. The elements can be adapted based on the skills and needs of the target group. A Skills Bike Park is a great addition to any city or town.
In 2024, together with the municipality of Harderwijk, we will have the very first Velosolutions Bike Skills park in the Netherlands. The municipality of Harderwijk has Het Stadsidee every year for the residents of Harderwijk and Hierden. This is an award ceremony with which they can win a budget to realize their idea! Four children from the municipality wanted a PumpTrack in Hierden. They had made a design themselves, went door to door and eventually won the prize! Unfortunately, it turned out to be financially unattractive to build an asphalt PumpTrack here. In addition, the site has a 'building' destination, which means that housing may be built in a few years, which means that a permanent PumpTrack is not sustainable. Via Lappset the municipality came into contact with our products and this turned out to be the solution! The initiators were very active in realizing their idea, for example they designed the Skills Park themselves using the elements and they also went looking for parties who could help prepare the terrain (including moving the existing goals and ball catchers that were there). In this way, a new sports location was designed with the support of the residents and the hope that the Skills Park can remain for a long time. And if it does have to disappear, the elements can be moved to another location. At the moment, the Skills Park meets the WAS certification, if the elements are moved, a re-inspection will have to take place. In short: an ideal (possibly temporary) opportunity to introduce children to cycling and learning skills.
